Magic Mama is a nationally touring Eco-Edu-tainer who performs Organic Hip Hop and World Beats. Through her music, Magic Mama delivers an empowering and hope-filled message of love and respect for all and inspires creative thinking and Earth-friendly actions. Performances are lively and interactive; audience participation is invited throughout each set.

Magic Mama has released two full length albums, Rodeo deGaia and Wild Birds, and is currently producing her third record, Renegade Spade - Music for the Good Food Revolution.
Magic Mama plays an eclectic variety of instruments including acoustic guitar, harmonium, canning jars filled with water, and a recycled paper drum. With the help of a loop machine, she records and layers vocals and multiple instruments live, building to a full band sound. She also provides the audience with handmade, recycled instruments, including empty cheese-puff bags, rainsticks, and used water-filter shakers.
There's nothing like a Magic Mama show. Her genre-elusive music is challenging to describe. "You have to see it to hear it." Magic Mama has been described as "De La Soul meets Keller Williams on Sesame Street" and "The Ani DiFranco of family entertainment."
 The Rodeo deGaia is a family of Peace Pirates. Magic Mama is also know as Right Hand Red, the captain of the ship. She has toured the continent in her 1979 VW Dasher grease car performing at libraries, festivals, farms, theaters, and other family-friendly venues. Between tours, Magic Mama can be found growing organic food and wildflowers, home schooling her two children, sewing CAT HATS, making art, playing music, and joyfully subverting the consumer paradigm through non-violent actions. A Peace Pirate is someone who speaks her truth and bravely faces the consequences. Peace Pirates often wear stripes and Yaargyle, can be found planting seeds and singing songs. Peace Pirates lead by example and only follow rules that are in line with our hearts and deepest values.
Also known as Kjersten Hallin, Magic Mama is a classically trained pianist who played at the college level in sixth grade. As a child, she also played the violin and clarinet before setting music aside in college, where she trained in Fine Arts, K-12 Art Education, Environmental Studies and Outdoor Adventure.
After college she worked as an arts educator in both public and private schools. When she became a mother she began writing songs about the essence of childhood, the experience of parenting and our connection with nature. These songs became the album Rodeo deGaia, organic hip-hop and world beats for the whole family.
Dedicated to healing the Earth and tending to the Children's Fire, Magic Mama believes that magic is the art of changing consciousness at will. She invites her audience to open their minds and think about the world in new, life-affirming ways.
